US multinational’s stand at BTYS&T Exhibition demonstrates growth areas of cloud, big data and security. EMC, the US high-tech multinational that employs 2,500 people in Ireland, has urged students to choose college courses in information communications technology (ICT) as schools gather in the RDS in Dublin this week for the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.

ENGINEERS WEEK 2012 IS ‘LANDING’ – ENGINEERS IRELAND CALL ON INDUSTRY TO GET INVOLVED BY HOSTING AN EVENT DURING THE WEEK: Engineers Week 2012, this year themed ‘Connecting our lives’, is ‘landing’ in Ireland on Monday, February 27 and will run until Sunday, March 4, Engineers Ireland has announced. Engineers Ireland are today calling on industry to support the week by hosting an event at their company to showcase the great engineering work happening around Ireland and to enthuse students about a career in the sector. The week-long series of activities across the country is run by Engineers Ireland and is a campaign held annually to promote engineering as a career and the importance of the profession to Ireland.  To date highlight events over the week include an “ethical hackathon” highlighting security issues for third level technology students on Tuesday February 28 as well as the annual Volunteer Day on Thursday, March 1 when engineers go into schools across Ireland to help explain the importance of maths to students.  To see a full list of events taking place during the week log onto www.engineersweek.ie <http://www.engineersweek.ie> .
